EGE hastanesi Izmir 16 th Dec 2010 On the 2nd Dec 2010 Valerie had a brain anyeurism and a 5 hour operation on the 3rd. After 5 days in Intensive Care she was moved to a private ward. Over the next few days she improved but she started having problems a few days later and on the 13th went back to ICU. Val was pronounced dead at 2.15 pm on the 16th Dec 2010. She donated two kidneys , her liver and both corneas to patients scattered across turkey and saved several lives..
Vals funeral 21st December 2010
Vals funeral was at Karabaglar Hristiyan Mezarligi ( Karabaglar Christian Cemetary Izmir )on the 21st Decemebr 2010 at 1 pm. The service was conducted by Ron Evans from St Johns anglican church at Alsancak. Vals daughters April and Lynn and myself where there as well as the transplant coordinator Dr Sukriye Alyarak and her asssitant. Our yachting friends from as far as Finike , Marmaris and Kusadasi also attended. A special thanks to Tony and Clare on Hai Mei Gui , Hugh and Brenda on Scotia and Sharman and Cliff on Blue Cotton ( formerly yacht Sara ). for help and moral support ... Several of the doctors from the EGE hospital wanted to be there but had operations all that day. Other friends and family also wanted to attend but where stopped by the bad weather in Europe and the UK.After the funeral we went to Alsancak Limani for a late lunch and a wander aound the market as Val would have enjoyed that ....

The next day Lynn , April and I went back to the cemetary and helped the staff plant several trees and Lynn planted various flowering bulbs around Vals grave. The mable top had been engraved and placed on Vals grave during the night.
